A madrasa student has died after being electrocuted during the Qawmi thanksgiving rally at the capital’s Suhrawardi Udyan.

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Saiful Islam, who got electrocuted from a pillar adjacent to an entrance near a Temple around 12:30pm Sunday.

He was then rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors pronounced him dead.

Saiful hailed from Habiganj’s Madhabpur, said DMCH police post SI Bachchu Mia.
