Special court reading out Zia Charitable case verdict

BNP Chairperson Khaleda ZiaIf proved guilty in the Zia Charitable Graft case, BNP chairperson, Khaleda Zia, and the other accused will get between 3-7 years imprisonment, lawyers have said.

The court has already started to read out the verdict. Counsel for the state, Abdullah Abu told Bangla Tribune: “the length of the imprisonment depends on the discretion of the court.”

The verdict will be delivered by judge Dr Akhtaruzzaman of the special court -5, established within the administrative building of the old central jail.

Earlier this year, on February 8, Dr Akhtaruzzaman gave five years imprisonment to Khaleda Zia on the Zia Orphanage Graft case. In the same case, his son, and acting chairman of BNP, Tarique Rahman was handed ten years imprisonment.
