A brawl broke out between pro-Awami League and pro-BNP lawyers on Tuesday (Oct 9) at the Supreme Court premises.
Witnesses said the incident took place at the Supreme Court Bar Association’s south building over organising a media call at the designated room for lawyers.
The Supreme Court Bar Association, the leadership of which dominated by pro-BNP lawyers, called the press briefing over alleged violation of seniority appointing judges for the Appellate Division.
On Monday, the president appointed three new top court judges, who were sworn in earlier on Tuesday.
The Bar Association organised the press briefing at the room used as a lounge for lawyers.
An argument broke out between pro-Awami League lawyers, including Syed Sayedul Haque and the pro-BNP lawyers in the leadership of the Bar Association, according to witnesses.
