Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner, Asaduzzaman Mia, has said that any attempt by vested quarters to unleash violence over the verdict of 21 Aug grenade attack will be dealt with firmness.
He also said that there is no security threat surrounding the verdict due on Wednesday (Oct 10) and the DMP is ready to ensure safety and security of the city dwellers.
He made the comments while speaking as the chief guest at an event held at the capital’s Rajarbagh Police Line on Tuesday.
Saying that the police is vigilant ahead of the verdict, the DMP chief added: “we are closely monitoring the situation; any attempt at violence over the verdict will be handled strictly.”
“No mischief or shenanigans will be tolerated,” said the commissioner.
We are not involved in politics; it’s our constitutional responsibility to protect the lives and properties of the people, asserted the police officer.
“If anybody tries to destabilise the situation, they will be strictly dealt with and brought under justice,” added the police chief.
