The High Court has adjourned the hearing of BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s appeal challenging Zia Orphanage Trust graft case verdict until Sunday (Oct 7).
The bench of justices M Enayetur Rahim and Md. Mostafizur Rahman gave the order on Thursday (Oct 4).
Counsels AJ Mohammad Ali and Kaisar Kamal argued for Khaleda while advocate Khurshid Alam stood for the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
The hearing of three more appeals — ACC’s plea for increasing Khaleda’s sentence and two more petitions filed by two other convicts, Kazi Salimul Haque Kamal and Sharifuddin Ahmed will be held on the same day.
A three-time premier, Khaleda Zia has been serving a five-year sentence since Feb 8 for embezzling foreign donations made to Zia Orphanage Trust.
