Police accuse BNP bigwigs of subversive activities

From its rally on Sunday at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan, BNP leaders urged activists and supporters to prepare for movement and election.Police have brought charges of subversive activities against top brass of the BNP, including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and six members of its policymaking National Standing Committee.
He said charges of subversive activities and obstruction of police duty have been brought against the suspects in the case.
According to the case document, BNP supporters hurled crude bombs on police in the city’s Moghbazar around 8pm on Sunday, hours after the party’s rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan.
Investigations revealed that the attacks were done at the behest of top BNP-Jamaat leaders, it added.
BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Moudud Ahmed, Nazrul Islam Khan, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Moyeen Khan have been named in the case.
Filed with Hatirjheel Police Station, the case also names BNP leaders Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Amanullah Aman, Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu and 45 other party men as the accused.
The Detective Branch filed two cases on Sunday and Monday, Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman of the Hatirjheel police station told Bangla Tribune.
