A swindler syndicate is regularly posting on Facebook with promises to provide question papers for public exams. It’s found that the group is luring students with advanced question papers of the medical college admission test to be held on Oct 5 next.
A person called Mahfuz Rahman Roton is reported to be at the centre of his social media based academic fraud along with Mahmud Hassan Miron.Miron wrote on his Facebook page that while he was a first year student of Dhaka University, he became active in politics and, one day, got involved with the admission syndicate.
He also claims on his Facebook page that he is a student of the department of criminology.Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor Akhtaruzzaman told Bangla Tribune: “we can’t make any comments without proof; we need to investigate if the person in question (Roton) is actually a student of Dhaka University or not.”
The chairman of criminology could not be contacted to ascertain if there is a student named Roton in his department.
Other teachers have not been able to recognize the name.Meanwhile, dismissing the possibility of the medical admission text paper leak, director of health department, Professor Dr Abdur Rashid, told Bangla Tribune: “we are certain that questions papers will not be leaked; “all precautions have been taken with the detective branch on alert.”
I would request examinees not to be tempted by such unlawful offers, because a syndicate is adopting this strategy to swindle money, he warned.
“If anyone claims to provide question papers on Facebook then we will inform the authority to take necessary steps.”
