The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned Jatiya Party Secretary General Ruhul Amin Howlader on allegations of illegally amassing wealth.

An ACC notice, issued on Thursday (Sept 13) instructed him to appear at its office on Sept 18. 

BNP leader and former foreign minister M Morshed Khan and his wife Nasrin Khan have also been summoned by the graft watchdog on the same day.

ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said, Hawlader has been summoned on allegations of amassing wealth beyond known income sources.

Morshed and his wife have been summoned in connection with the AB Banks’ money embezzlement case, filed by the ACC on Jun 28, 2017, that accuses them and 14 others including former top officials of the bank.

According to the case dossier, AB Bank officials helped Morshen Khan-owned Pacific Telecom Bangladesh Limited embezzle Tk 3.83 billion from the banks. It accuses Khan of “fraud intended to reap unlawful financial benefit, corruption, misuse of power and criminal breach of trust.”

The ACC says that the loans were disbursed between 2011 and 2015 without securing bank guarantee against any collateral.
