Health specialists say that every year, from June to October, the Aedes mosquito, the carrier of Dengue, becomes prevalent.’
Acting DG of the health ministry, Professor AHM Enayet Hossain told Bangla Tribune, we have made a preventive guideline for Dengue.
The preventive guideline states that since Dengue is spread through Aedes mosquitoes during monsoon, 1. Stagnant water around the home has to be disposed of, 2. The container which had the old water has to be cleaned thoroughly to remove any mosquito eggs stuck to its body, 3. Unused containers have to be kept upside down to avoid accumulation of water, 4. Mosquito nets have to be used during night time, 5. Nets have to be placed on window or doors to prevent entry of mosquitoes, 6. Mosquito repellent cream can be used on the face and uncovered parts of the body and, 7. The approach to Dengue and Chikungunya has to be practical and not with a sense of alarm because an affected person recovers in time.
