Three people were served with a legal notice including the Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Akhtaruzzaman as no step has been taken to hold Dhaka University Central Student Parliament (DUCSU) election despite the directive of the High Court (HC).
The other two are DU Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani and Treasurer Dr Kamal Uddin.
Advocate Manzill Murshid, the petitioner, sent the notice by post on Tuesday.
In the writ petition, the VC, the treasurer, the registrar and the proctor were made defendants.
Manzill Murshid said, "This trio will face a case of contempt of court unless no attempt initiated to arrange the election comply with the court order in seven days."
On Jan 17 this year, HC ordered the university authorities to hold DUCSU election within six months.
After a final hearing of a rule regarding the issue, the HC bench of Justice Syed Mohammad Dastagir Hossain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman passed the verdict.
No DUCSU election was held after July 6 1990.
