Despite the ongoing crackdown against drugs, the sale of narcotics hasn’t stopped. Ingenious ways are being adopted to sell and deliver drugs. After orders are made over phone, the drug of choice is delivered at homes or any other stipulated place.
Police have found this after talking to a few arrested drug dealers. Fearing arrest, many drug sellers are now floating traders; once the money is sent through bKash, they deliver the products.
A person at the infamous seven storied shanty town in Mohakhali says that once the money is sent through mobile transfers, the drug, usually Yaba, is delivered in an hour.
“But traders only sell to known users, who have bought from them for years.”
Notorious drug dealer of the seven storied shanty, Ripon, is now in prison. Other traders are fugitives; but they sell Yaba through phone orders.
It’s found that one trader called ‘Maharaja’ is carrying on the Yaba trade via phone orders.
A resident of the seven storied shanty says that now there isn’t a single selling spot in the area.
Banani thana inspector, Borhan Uddin told Bangla Tribune: “there isn’t any selling spot in the seven storied shanty town.”
Assistant director of narcotics control department, (north), Khorshed Alam, added that while the supply of illegal drugs has fallen sharply the trade still continues.
“Though the drug selling and buying is now quite tough.”
