IGP Javed Patwary was speaking to the reporters on Aug 13, 2018.IGP Javed Patwary has said that DB (Detective Branch) of police have been given the responsibility to identify the people who attacked and assaulted journalists during the students’ movement.
They are working on it, he assured and added: “after inspecting video footage, they will give the report.”
The IG made the comments while briefing journalists on security measures for 15 August national day of mourning and the upcoming Eid ul Azha.
When asked about the identity of the men wielding sharp weapons, wearing helmets and standing with the police during clashes, the IG said: “we do not know them and did not ask for the support of any party.”
We have identified several hundred fake ID’s from where rumours were spread, 21 cases have already been lodged and BTRC has been requested to shut them, he added.
He also said the student protest demanding safe roads, following the death of two students due to rash driving, was logical.
“However, their movement was hijacked after three days; abusing social media, the students’ movement was misled.”
