ECNEC clears 11 projects involving Tk 64.48 billion

The government will provide Tk 64.16 billion while the organization concerned will contribute Taka 70.98 million of the total project cost, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told in a media briefing after the meeting on Tuesday.
He said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the authorities concerned to take development projects for the loom industries, especially in Jamalpur, Dewanganj, Islampur, Sylhet and Chittagong districts.”
The approved projects are: The dredging and embankment protection of the Padma River project. Road development of Sonapur-Chairman ghat project to boost tourism in Swarnadwip. Supply and installation of smart pre-paid meter for DESCO area. Land acquisition (Araihazar in Narayanganj and Mirsarai) for Economic Zone. Establishment of five training centres in five basic training centres and a fashion design institute and two market promotion centres under Bangladesh Handloom Board.
The other projects are: Establishment of Dr M A Wazed Mia Textile Engineering College in Pirganj. Construction of Shishu Paribar and Chuta Moni Nibash. Construction of primary infrastructures of Hi-Tech Park in Sylhet. Right embankment protection and dredging of the Padma River. Beerganj-Khansma-Daroyari, Khansama-Ranibandar and Chiribandar-Amtalibazar highway widening project. Construction of PC Girder bridge on Kulaura-Prithimpasha-Hazipur-Sharifpur road.
