There will be some irregularities in elections, says Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), KM Nurul Huda.
He made the comment after inaugurating a training workshop at the Election Training Institute (ETI) Building on Tuesday.
When asked about irregularities in recently concluded polls in three city corporations he told journalists: “there were incongruities in some places and we took actions where necessary.”
For example, In Barisal, we took extra measures; votes in more polling stations were suspended, he added.
“There may be some irregularities in the national elections and we cannot guarantee that a big public election will be free of anomaly.”
The CEC assured that measures to tackle discrepancies will be taken.
Talking about possible repercussion of the current student movement on the upcoming national election, the CEC, said: “It has no connection with the election whatsoever; this is a different issue.”
The government and those who are demonstrating will deal with this and it’s not something for us to be worried about, he assured.
