Over 250 US citizens fly out of Dhaka

A total 269 US citizens with seven dogs left Dhaka on Monday (Mar 30).

The US citizens left on a special chartered flight of Qatar Airways that departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6:05pm, according to airport Security Director Group Capt AHM Towhid-Ul Ahsan.

Earlier in the day, US Ambassador Earl R Miller visited the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to monitor the overall situation.

One new patient has tested positive for Covid-19 in Bangladesh over the last two days, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 49.

Bangladesh has so far confirmed five deaths, while the global death toll from the virus rose to 33,965 on Monday morning.

The US now has more than 140,000 confirmed cases.

As of Sunday, 2,493 deaths due to Covid-19 were recorded in the US, according to Johns Hopkins University.
