The minister came with the remarks during a programme at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday (Mar 25).
On BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s remark claiming that “the country would get rid of coronavirus as Khaleda Zia is released,” he said, “I don’t know if he made such irresponsible remarks. I hope no one will talk such irresponsibly in future.”
“An appeal to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came from Khaleda Zia’s relatives [for her release on health grounds] and they met with the PM. The premier exercised her power with the sub-section 401 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) to suspend Khaleda Zia’s sentence for six months,” he said.
“I hope that BNP will leave their previous negative and destructive politics considering PM’s this generosity,” he added.
