Troops deployed to help administration combat coronavirus

FILE PHOTOMembers of the armed forces have been deployed to help the civil administration fight the coronavirus outbreak at the field level.
Armed forces personnel started taking the responsibilities from the authorities concerned across the country, Director of Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) Lt Col Abdullah Ibn Zayed said on Tuesday (Mar 24).
On Monday (Mar 24), the government said troops will remain deployed in the divisional cities and district towns from Tuesday (Mar 24) to combat the virus that so far has infected 33 people and calming three lives.
They will be responsible for reviewing arrangements coronavirus patient treatment and ensuring social distance and mandatory home quarantine of returnees from abroad and their close contacts, the ISPR said in a statement sent to the media later in the day.
The district magistrates will request help from the local army commander for the review following the law, the statement added.
