Members of the armed forces will assist the civil administration at the field level in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak as the country so far confirms 33 infections with three deaths.

Troops will be deployed in the divisional cities and district towns from Tuesday (Mar 24), Cabinet Secretary Khandkar Anwarul Islam told a media call at the Secretariat on Monday (Mar 23).


He said that the armed forces will help the local administration in ensuring social distancing and other measures to stop the spread of the virus.
They will also be responsible for reviewing arrangements coronavirus patient treatment and mandatory home quarantine of returnees from abroad and their close contacts, the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) said in a statement sent to the media later in day.
The district magistrates will request help from the local army commander for the review following the law, it said.
