Authorities in Bangladesh have confirmed three more patients of Covid-19, a new strain of coronavirus that has killed over 6,500 people around the world.
One of the patients is a woman while others are children.
The Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirmed the matter in a briefing on Monday.
The infected include a woman and two children under the age of 10. They are family members of two other Covid-19-infected patients, who were detected on Mar 14.
On Mar 8, Bangladesh first reported its three cases of coronavirus. Two of them returned from Italy while another contracted the virus from one of the returnees.
With the latest update, Bangladesh has confirmed so far eight cases of the new coronavirus. Of them, three people were released upon recovery.
On Monday, the government's disease control agency, IEDCR also announced that Covid-19 samples will no longer be collected or tested from their office, rather a team will be sent to homes and medical centres for collecting samples if anyone shows symptoms of the disease.
Earlier in the day, the government said that all educational institutions across Bangladesh will remain shut untill Mar 31 in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus .
On Sunday, IEDCR said 10 people have been kept in isolation at hospitals in Bangladesh and at least 2,314 people across the country have been put under home quarantine for coronavirus.
Globally more than 162,000 are infected and over 6,000 have died. Mainland China had 16 new confirmed cases on Sunday, down from 20 a day earlier. That brings the total number of confirmed cases in China so far to 80,860.
