Bangladesh has shut all educational institutions across untill Mar 31 in an effort to stem the spread of coronavirus in the country.
Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune on Monday.
Education Minister Dipu Moni made the formal announcement before the media later in the day.
“The decision came as a precautionary measure. Everyone has to make sure that students stay at home,” she told a press breifing.
Earlier, Dhaka University suspended all classes between Mar 18 and Mar 28 amid coronavirus scare.
Bangladesh has confirmed three new coronavirus cases on Monday, taking the total to eight so far. Three of them have returned home after recovery.
Globally more than 162,000 are infected and over 6,000 have died. Mainland China had 16 new confirmed cases on Sunday, down from 20 a day earlier. That brings the total number of confirmed cases in China so far to 80,860.
