“The outbreak didn’t affect the country that much so far as no new infection has been reported. The government will take all necessary steps, including shutting down the schools-colleges if any situation arises in this regard,” he said.
His remarks came at a media call at Awami League central office in Dhaka’s Bangabandhu Avenue on Saturday (Mar 14), before distributing leaflets on coronavirus on behalf of the party to create awareness among people.
Quader, also AL general secretary, said, “We are making preparations for celebrating Mujib Year along with the preparations of checking coronavirus in the country.”
“Bangladesh government is ready to accept the proposal (given by India) for combating COVID-19 along with the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) countries,” the minister said.
Claiming a coronavirus-like political virus has entered into BNP, he said, “They (BNP leaders) should remove that coronavirus from their homes first by avoiding politics of blaming the government.”
