Bangladesh will live on irrespective of anyone’s recognition: Bangabandhu

US senator Edward Kennedy and his wife came to Bangladesh and in addition to giving a public speech, they had a 70-minute discussion with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

After the meet, Bangabandhu said: “Whether anyone gives recognition or not Bangladesh will live on.”
On Feb 14, 1972, spring came to an independent country.
While leaving Bangladesh Kennedy said: “The US government will not delay in giving recognition to Bangladesh, the USA should have acknowledged Bangladesh before.”
He also said that the evidence of the torture and atrocities committed by the Pakistan army tormented him.
ENA news said on this day that decision has been taken to make the water lily or Shapla the national flower.
For valour and courage during war, four titles were introduced for the regular army and the people’s militia.
As per the level of gallantry the highest award will be Bir Sreshtha, followed by Bur Ujttam, Bir Bikram and Bir Pratik.
A resident of Kushtia met Bangabandhu and gave him an oil painting on Bangabandhu. The Soviet Charge D’affairs talked to Bangabandhu about a trip to the USSR.
PBI sources said that he had a two and half hour meet with Bangabandhu.
Newspapers published that 70 refugees have died due to small pox. The media also reported that every day large number of people are coming back with many suffering from malnutrition and other ailments.
