361 Bangladeshis to be brought back from China: Minister

Photo/Rajib DharThe government is going to bring back 361 Bangladeshi nationals willing to return from China in the first phase, amid global health emergency declared by the World Health Organization (WHO).
“The 361 Bangladeshis, who are at risk amid virus outbreak, will be brought back. The Chinese authorities have confirmed that none of them is infected by coronavirus,” Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told a media call at Dhaka airport on Friday (Jan 31).
The government is in regular contact with the students and families in China,” said the minister.
“The returned Bangladeshis will undergo proper monitoring and treatment,” said Momen.
According to him, earnest efforts from ministries and prime minister’s directives have made the fast evacuation possible.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque said, “The Bangladeshi nationals will be taken to Ashkona Hajj Camp after landing at the airport. They will be kept in quarantine for 14 days. No relative can meet them during the period.”
The minister named Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital in Dhaka for treatment if anyone among them is diagnosed with coronavirus.
“We have taken necessary measures to prevent coronavirus spread. Our physicians and support staff are ready to face the situation,” Maleque assured.
