The Bangla Academy has announced its Literary Award 2019.
Director General Habibullah Sirajee announced the names at a media call at the Bangla Academy in Dhaka on Thursday (Jan 22).
They include Makid Haider for poetry and Wasi Ahmed for fiction.
Rafiqul Islam, a sector commander of the 1971 war and former home minister, has won the award for Liberation War research.
The others are Swarachish Sarkar for essays, Khairul Alam Sabuj for translation, Faruk Moinuddin for travelogue, Ratan Siddique for plays, Nadira Majumder for science fiction, Rahim Shah for children’s literature and Simon Jakaria for folklore.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will present the awards to the winners at the inauguration of the Omor Ekushey Book Fair on Feb 2.
