The inauguration of month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair has been pushed back to Feb 2 due to Dhaka City polls, which was rescheduled for Feb 1.
“The fair will be inaugurated on Feb 2 instated of Feb 1,” Bangla Academy Director General Habibullah Sirajee told Bangla Tribune on Sunday (Jan 19).
Dedicated to the martyrs of 1952 Language Movement, the Amar Ekushey Book Fair was traditionally inaugurated by the premier of the country on Feb 1 every year.

On Saturday (Jan 18), Election Commission pushed back the Dhaka city polls by two days after clamours for it to be rescheduled as it coincided with the Hindu festival of Saraswati Puja.
The new date, however, coincided with the inauguration and first day of the book fair.
