He breathed his late on Friday (Jan 10) at Apollo Hospital in Dhaka.

He leaves behind five daughters, four sons and relatives to mourn his death.

Ahmed Ali’s fist funeral prayers will be held at his home town in Brahmanbaria’s Nabinagar Upazila on Saturday (Jan 11) morning, his daughter Irene Ahmed said.

He will be buried at the Racecourse Graveyard in Cumilla following a second funeral prayer after the Asr prayers at Cumilla Town Hall grounds.

 Ahmed Ali was elected as an MLA from greater Cumill-5 (now Brahmanbaria-5) during the 1970 elections.

A close companion of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he served as the president of Chattra League’s greater Cumilla unit. He was also the first elected vice chairman of Bangladesh Lawyers’ Association.
