The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) recently cleared the project for a driving training and auto-mechanics training course at the 64 polytechnic centres that will be set up.
According to the planning ministry, the government’s Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training will implement the Tk 2.6 billion project by Dec 21, 2024.
“If the project is implemented, there will be a window to train drivers fit for both this country and abroad,” said Planning Ministry MA Mannan.
He added that both men and women will have the opportunity to apply for jobs under the project.
As many as 128 double-cabin pick-ups, eight trucks and one micro-bus will be procured for the project.
Ministry sources said that the new project is related to the government’s sustainable development goals by ending poverty, creating job opportunities and a stable economic growth.
