Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in the upcoming Dhaka city polls as their use has proven successful, said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda.
He made the remarks during a training session of the Dhaka city polls returning and assistant returning officers on Wednesday (Dec 25).
“We are sticking to EVMs despite many adversities,” he said before adding that the election employees have already achieved the skills to conduct votes digitally.
“If everyone says that votes cannot be successful through EVMs, we won’t use it,” he said.
Addressing the returning officers, he said that it’s their duty to ensure the voters can cast their franchises for their candidate and be neutral.
The CEC said that the city polls are the most challenging as it will be a competitive one.
