Will extradite war criminals Mueen, Ashraf soon: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was addressing the media after paying rich tributes to the martyred intellectuals at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in the capital`s Rayerbazar on Saturday (Dec 14). Focus BanglaThe government has taken diplomatic steps for the extradition of Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin and Ashrafuzzaman Khan who were sentenced to death by a court for killing intellectuals during the liberation war in 1971, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
He made the remarks on Saturday (Dec 14) after paying rich tributes to the martyred intellectuals at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in the capital's Rayerbazar on Saturday (Dec 14) morning.
“Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin and Ashrafuzzaman Khan have been sentenced to death for killing intellectuals during the liberation war in 1971. Diplomatic efforts have been strengthened to bring them back,” said the minister.
Quader, also the general secretary of Awami League, said, “The killers of Bangabandhu couldn’t extradite as there are legal barriers which countries they have been living in. But we have advanced to bring back the killers who have been staying in the United States.”
“We will able to bring them back soon,” added the ruling party’s general secretary.
