Information Minister Hasan Mahmud has said he had worked in hotels and restaurants while studying abroad.
“No profession is disgraceful. I’ve no hesitation to say that I also worked as a waiter when I was a student of masters and PhD. And I worked there for long,” he said on Wednesday (Nov 6).
The minister came up with the remarks while giving financial assistance to film director Arannyo Polash, who has become penniless by making a film and works as a hotel boy, at the Secretariat.
Hasan said, “I talked with all including the state minister and information secretary to help Polash from the ministry. But we have to go through some procedures to give financial assistance from the ministry.
"So I called him today to give assistance from my own fund. I’ll talk with the committee so that the film of Polash could be released,” he added.
Hasan, also the publicity and publication secretary of Awami League, gave Tk 100,000 to Polash.
