“It will take time to make e-passport available for everyone. We, however, have started it,” he told the media at his office on Sunday (Oct 31).
Asked whether expatriate Bangladeshis will be getting the e-passport, the minister said, “Everyone will have it.
“Passport with 10-year validity will make things easier for the expatriates,” he added.
Referring to his recent visit to Germany, Momen said he had a discussion with the Berlin-based Verodos, which secured the contract to distribute e-passport, over the matter.
On the outcome of Europe trip, the minister said thathe has been informed of two business delegations led the foreign ministers of Italy and Greece visiting Dhaka.
On Bangabandhu's birth centenary celebration, Momen said it’s a year-long progamme and they have invited many world leaders to visit Dhaka.
India’s Prime Minister Nareandra Modi and Congress Party chief Sonia Gandhi have given their consent to visit Bangladesh on the occasion on Mar 17, 2020, he informed.
Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad has been invited too but he is yet to confirm his visit, Momen added.
