Saudi govt compensates Bangladeshi victims of 2015 Hajj crane crashBangladeshi victims of the 2015 crane crash in Mecca during the Hajj have recieved compensations from Saudi Arabia.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen handed over the cheques to the family of one dead victim and two injured victims at ministry on Thursday (Oct 31).

Family of Md Abdul Kashem, who died in the horrific crane crush, has received the Tk 22.6 million  while two survivors, Sardar Abdul Rob and Md Nazimuddin, got Tk 11.3 million each.

The minister thanked Saudi government saying, “The healthy bilateral relationship between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh has ensured the compensation.”

Recalling the tragic incident, survior Rob said, “I was trying to get into Kaaba Sharif. I heard a loud bang and the next thing , I felt was my legs were broken. I am yet to recover.”

On Sept 24 2015, a crane crash left more than 100 people dead and over 200 injured  during the annual pilgrimage of Hajj in Mecca.
