The principals of the primary schools won’t be getting paid in the 10th grade of the wage board until the pay scale of the district education officers is upgraded.
The information was disclosed at the meeting of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on Wednesday (Oct 30).
According to sources at the meeting, when questions were raised regarding the pay grade, the primary and mass education secretary said that for now primary school principals will be getting paid in the 11th pay-scale and assistant teachers will be getting paid in the 13th pay-scale.
“We have recommended new appointment guidelines. When it’s implemented, the district assistant education officers will be upgraded to the 9th grade. That’s when we can upgrade the pay scale of the primary school principles to the 10th grade.
“The pay scale of the primary school teachers has been discussed. The ministry said that the top-level of the government is considering it and a solution will soon emerge,” said Bhola-2 lawmaker Ali Azam who sits on the committee.
The proposal for the amendment for the guidelines in the appointment or non-cadre employees for the primary education directorate has been sent to the public administration ministry.
In the amendments, the district education officers have been proposed to be paid in the 7th grade and recommendations have been made for the appointments to be made through promotions.
Moreover, recommendations have been made to upgrade the pay-scale of the rest of the posts.
