BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s health is showing improvement, authorities of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) have said.
The medical broad formed for the former prime minister said her condition is stable and in some cases it has improved after she was transferred to hospital from jail on Apr 1.
“Her [Khaleda’s] health condition is stable.
“A vaccine is required for her arthritis treatment, but she has not given us permission for it. We are hopeful that she will take it soon,” Dr Md Zilan Miah Sarker, who heads the board, told a media call at the BSMMU on Monday (Oct 28).
The BSMMU arranged the press conference to “clear confusion” over Khaleda’s treatment as there have been complaints from the family and the party, according to its Director AK Mahbubul Hoque.
“It is quite reasonable for her family members to worry about her health, but world class treatment is being provided to her at the moment,” he added.
Khaleda has been in jail since February 2018 after being convicted in two corruption cases. She was shifted to BSMMU hospital in April this year when she fell ill and has remained there ever since.
