“World will go to 5G within 2021. We have to march on as the world is now moving very fast for 5G. We can't waste our time”, the minister told Bangla Tribune.
Replying to a query, Mustafa Jabbar said that the trial is being initiated to test the capabilities to run the new technology.
The test is being run as its predecessor 4G is yet to cover major parts of the country.
On Jul 25, the test run event will be organised under the title of Bangladesh 5G Summit at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital.
Prime Minister’s ICT advisor Sajib Wazed Joy is expected to attend the occasion.
5G will change the digital life and Bangladesh wants to take lead in this arena by deploying state-of-the-art technology, the minister said.
5G will dramatically increase the internet speed, offering a boost to self-driving cars, drones, virtual reality and the Internet of Things, said the experts.
