Four officials of the Election Commission (EC), including the director general of Election Training Institution (ETI), have been transferred over allegations of fund embezzlement.
In an order on Wednesday (Aug 28), the EC told the four officials to join their new offices by Thursday (Aug 29) or they would be stand released.
The four officials are – ETI DG Mostafa Faruk, Faridpur Regional Election Officer Nuruzzaman Talukder, Sylhet Regional Election Officer Md Israel Hossain and Election Commission Director (Public Relations) SM Asaduzzaman.
Faruk and Talukder will replace each other while Hossain of Sylhet was made an EC director and Asaduzzaman would replace Hossain in Syhlet, according to the EC order.
Sources at EC said the transfer came after allegation of embezzling money allocated for training during the Dec 30 national polls and other local elections surfaced.
The ETI is usually tasked with conducting training related to elections.
