Tarikul Islam, who was severely beaten by Awami League leaders on 3 July, has been advised to be admitted to Dhaka Orthopaedic hospital for better treatment.
Tarikul, a Rajshahi University (RU) student, is an active leader of the ongoing quota reform movement.
Friends and relatives are bringing him to Dhaka and they started from Rajshahi at 10 am on 8 July.
Dr. Saed Ahmed of Rajshahi Royal Hospital, where Tarikul was admitted, said: “Tarikul is not recovering from his injuries as his leg and waist bones were fractured during the incident.”
I have advised for him to be admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation in Dhaka as his leg needs an operation, added the doctor.
Tarikul’s classmates said that he is on his way to Dhaka for better treatment as per doctors’ advice.
On 2 July, Tarikul was attacked and severely beaten by Awami League leaders and activists with hammer and sticks as he was in a demonstration of the ongoing quota reform movement.
His right leg was fractured during the incident; Tarikul was later admitted to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
