The second namaz-e-janaza of Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman and former military strongman HM Ershad has been held on the premises of Jatiya Sangsad in Dhaka on Jul 15, 2019.

The funeral prayer was held on Monday morning with the presence of a number of dignitaries.

President Abdul Hamid, along with members of parliament and leaders of different political parties, participated.

Earlier, the body of the leader of the opposition was brought to the spot from the mortuary of Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, where the body had been kept overnight. His coffin was wrapped in the national flag.

The body of the Jatiya Party chief will be taken to the party office at Kakrail around 11:30am.

Another namaz-e-janaza of Ershad will be held at Baitul Mukarram Mosque this afternoon after asr prayers. His body will then be kept at the mortuary of CMH again.

On Tuesday, the body of the former military dictator will be taken to Rangpur by helicopter, and the fourth and last funeral prayer will be performed there after zuhr prayers.

On Sunday, the first janaza was held at Army Central Mosque in Dhaka Cantonment after zuhr prayers.

HM Ershad passed away on Sunday (Jul 14) at the CMH while undergoing treatment.
