Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressing the parliament on Wednesday. FOUCS BANGLAPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the ongoing crackdown on drugs will continue for until the menace is completely eradicated.
“Drugs destroy a country, a nation and a family. The drive will continue, no matter who says what,” she told the parliament on Wednesday during discussions on the budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year.
Describing the Tk 4.6 trillion proposed budget as ‘a magnificent job by the finance minister’, the leader of the House said, “He has kept in mind people from all groups while formulating it. Bangladesh will go a step further by implementing this budget.”
On quotas in public service, Hasina said a panel headed by the Cabinet secretary is reviewing the matter.
“I’ve already said there’ll be no quotas. But it can’t be reformed overnight. A committee has been formed to find a way to abolish the existing system,” she said.
