AH Mahmood AliForeign Minister AH Mahmood Ali has left for Beijing to discuss Rohingya and other bilateral issues with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

The bilateral meeting will be held on Jun 29.

This will be their second formal encounter in seven months as the Chinese minister came to Dhaka on Nov 19, just before both of them flew to Myanmar to attend ASEM ministerial.

After the full-blown eruption of Rohingya crisis in August last year, the UN Security Council on several occasions tried to adopt a resolution against Myanmar, but could not do so as China wielded influence to block it.

Bangladesh will try to explain them that the Rohingya problem might spill over and destabilise the whole region, he added.

China has massive business and economic interest in Myanmar where it has investment in mining, power and many other strategic areas.

Bangladesh is home to over 1.1 million Rohingyas who are easy prey to fundamentalist forces and might be allured to take the wrong path.
