Awami League’s Jahangir Alam, who is leading BNP’s Hasan Sarker, in the Gazipur mayor race has promised to work in coordination with all to build a better city.
Speaking to the media late on Tuesday after meeting the returning officer at the Bangataj Auditorium in the city he reiterated his promise to build Gazipur as a ‘planned city’.
“I will work with everyone for the development of Gazipur. My first task will be to coordinate with everyone. My priorities are addressing traffic congestion, widen the streets and roads, set up a proper drainage system and construct footpaths ... will work on a master plan upon consulting with everyone,” he said.
Coming down hard on the BNP, Jahangir claimed, “They did not do anything for the city. They made promises, but did not keep them.”
