Dhaka saw light rain on Saturday (Jun 15) morning – offering city dwellers a relief from scorching heat.
Rain on the first day of the Bangla month of Ashar reduced the summer heat that had been sweeping over Dhaka for the last couple of weeks.
The Meteorology Department forecast light-to-moderate rain and thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur in different places, including Dhaka, across Bangladesh, commencing at 6am on Friday (Jun 14).
It forecasted: rain in the Chattogram, Sylhet, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Barisal divisions; rain in one-or-two places in the Khulna and Rajshahi divisions; and moderately- heavy-to-heavy rainfall in parts of the Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
The Met office said a mild-to-moderate heat wave has been sweeping over the Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Khulna divisions and it may abate at some places.
