All citizens urged to submit landlord-tenant information to their respective police stations, requests Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia. He made this request to help the police fight crime and threats of militant attack.
The DMP chief said this at the inauguration event of Citizen Information Collection Week (CICW) on Saturday (Jun 15).
"The Citizen Information Management System (CIMS) project was launched in 2015 but officially started in 2016. Since then, we have collected the information of 6.3 million people belonging to 2.2 million families which has helped in reducing militancy, terrorism and other crimes across the country," said Asaduzzaman Mia.
He explained that CICW's purpose was to bring life to this CIMS project that had slowed.
"The incident happened in Bosila, the militant den raid, on Apr 29 was the result of lacking landlord-tenant information," the commissioner added.
Different beats of the police, with the help of community polices, will promote the program in respective areas, which will continue till Jun 21.
