Biman Bangladesh Pilot Captain Fazal Mahmud forgot his passport but he shouldn’t have done it considering he was supposed to fly the prime minister, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
“He did it by mistake. There are two or three checkpoints at the airport but he crossed those,” he told the media on Saturday (Jun 8).
“He gave his fingerprint and showed the immigration police his General Declaration copy. But when they asked for the passport he said that it was in his bag,” he added.
The minister said that the immigration employee on duty has been suspended for being negligent.
“We are probing the matter and will provide more information later,” he said.
On Wednesday (Jun 5), Captain Fazal Mahmud was held back at Qatar for not having his passport on him.
He was supposed to fly Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was on a tri-nation visit in the Boeing-787 Dreamliner.
Biman authorities later arranged for his passport to be sent to Doha through a Regent Airways flight.
