Monjur Mohammad ShahriarDeputy Director of the Directorate of the National Consumer Rights Protection, Monjur Mohammad Shahriar, has said that he carried out drives as per law.
Talking to Bangla Tribune, he said: “I carried out mobile court as per existing law,”
Earlier, ministry of public administration issued a gazette revoking the transfer order of Monjur Shahriar.
After cancelling transfer order, public administration secretary Faiz Ahmed, said: “Monjur Ahmed carried out mobile court as per his whim and his transfer came before the drive at Aarong.”
Since the transfer, which came immediately after the drive at Arong, may create a misconception among the people, we revoked it, he added.
Monjur Shahriar comments: “I am neither happy nor sad about the revocation of the transfer order; as a servant of the republic, I have to work wherever I am sent.”
Many organsiations sell foreign goods to people but cannot show import orders, the question therefore is: are these products foreign or made locally?
On Monday (Jun 3) afternoon, Monjur Shahriar fined Aarong’s Uttara outlet Tk 450,000 for doubling the price of a Punjabi over a matter of five days.
He also ordered the closure of the outlet for 24 hours.
On Monday evening, a gazette notification was issued at the website of the ministry of public administration stating his transfer which went viral on Facebook.
Singed by ministry of public administration’s deputy secretary, the gazette stated that Monjur has been transferred to Khulna and has to join his new post by Jun 13, failing to do so would result in his immediate stand release.
Monjur Shahriar also carried out drives at makeover parlours of Persona and Farzana Shakil, slapping fines for using expired and unknown beauty products.
