All the major Eid jamaats across the country will be given three-tier security, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
“Law enforcers in both uniforms and plainclothes will be there at the large jamaats,” he said while addressing the media after a program for donating Eid presents to the underprivileged on Sunday (Jun 2).
“Those who led the terror attack on the police at Malibagh and Tejgaon will soon be identified,” he added.
“If the Shia and Ahmedia sect arrange any jamaat for Eid, they’ll be provided security too,” Kamal said.
Responding to queries about whether the militants were re-organising again, he said, “We never said that we completely uprooted them.”
He added that they are always conspiring but he does not anticipate them carrying out any major attacks.
The minister’s message to the militants was: “The law enforcers are on the alert to take down those who want to stain Islam.”
On the security at the capital, he said, “The DMP [Dhaka Metropolitan Police] has assured me that he is satisfied with the security.”
He said CCTV cameras have been installed in several areas and if everyone is careful, no untoward incidents will take place.
