The railways authorities will start sale of advance railway tickets for Eid-ul-Fitr on May 22 and it will last for five days ending on May 25.
“Tickets will be available at five locations for the convenience of the passengers,” Railway Secretary Md Mofazzal Hossain told Bangla Tribune on Monday (May 13).
He added that the move was to ensure that the passengers don’t have to stand in line for hours.
For the first time tickets will be available at Tejgaon, Banani, Fulbaria, in addition to Kamlapur and Airport station.
“The government has made significant improvements in the railway sector. We’ll do whatever it takes to ensure passenger services,” he said and added that 50 percent of the tickets will be available on apps.
He said that tickets for May 31, Jun 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be available on May 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 respectively.
The return tickets will be available from May 29. The tickets for Jun 7, 8,9,10 and 11 will be available on May 29, 30, 31, Jun 1 and 2 respectively.
The secretary said that six special trains will operate on occasion of Eid. These will leave Dhaka between Jun 2 and 4 and return on Jun 6 and 12.
