Drones will be flown this year to ensure security and uninterrupted surveillance at the country’s biggest Eid congregation on Sholakia ground in Kishoreganj.
Narshingdi Police will provide the surveillance drones to Kishoreganj Police.
Confirming the news to Bangla tribune, Narshingdi’s Superintendent of Police Saifullah Al Mamun said, “Narshingdi police is flying three drones to enhance district security through uninterrupted surveillance.”
“Different district polices became interested and curious after drone surveillance was introduced in Narshingdi,” Saifullah said, adding that the Kishoreganj police have already requested them to give them the drones temporarily to enhance security at Sholakia ground during the Eid congregation.
“We have happily agreed,” he also said.
Saifullah said, “We are monitoring the law and order situation of Narshingdi city through drone surveillance since June 6. It helps us monitor the mostly populated areas where it is tough to go physically.
“We monitor the places where drug addicts or terrorists generally gather,” he added.
The district police boss said, “The price of each of the drone was Tk 3-4 lakhs. At present, five police personnel are being trained in this regard. We have a plan to form a surveillance unit led by a sub-inspector in future.”
SP Saifullah collected the drones under his own initiative. The deputy inspector general (Dhaka Range) of police has been informed over the issue.
