A mobile court with the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) market monitoring cell has fined a Shegunbagicha meat shop by Tk 50,000 for charging prices more than set by the authorities.
Executive Magistrate Mizanur Rahaman-led mobile court found Haji Afzal meat shop was selling beef Tk 550 a kg against the set price of Tk 525.
He told Bangla Tribune that the action had been taken in line with the consumer rights act after the meat shop’s owner, Haji Afzal, admitted to the charges.
The DSCC magistrate said: “We conducted the drive in a bid to control price hike and adulteration in kitchen market in the month of holy Ramadan and several drives will be conducted in different kitchen markets under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).”
