Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful IslamThe government has no immediate plan to increase the existing 30 year age limit for entry into government jobs, said Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam.

The minister said this in parliament on Wednesday, while answering to a question of a parliament member, Selina Begum, selected from reserved women seats.

There is no session jam at the higher education institutions; students now have six to seven years to get a government job after graduation, he observed.
The minister also pointed out that the number of vacant positions decreased as the age limit for the retirement was increased from 57 to 59.

“If the entry-level age limit increases, it would trigger intense competition for the job seekers, multiplying the number of applicants.”
He further observed that extending the entry-level age bar may also sow a feeling of disconsolation among applicants below thirty.

Replying to another query of ruling party lawmaker Momtaj Begum, he stated that the government, between 2009 and March 2018, has created 6, 13,151 posts.

Efforts are underway to create additional 52, 079 posts, the minister concluded.
